Daily Spirits for Iwami – Masashi Sakaoka

In Bhutan, he looked closely at the boundary
between “nothingness” and “abundance,”
between nature and capital.

Now, a new photo exhibition by traveler Masashi Sakaoka
has just opened here in Iwami.
This marks his first solo exhibition as a photographer.
Soon, he will set off again—this time, to Peru.

And tomorrow, I too will travel—to Hiroshima.
To learn from the world of Jūnishingi Kagura.
To witness a sacred stage I’ve never seen before,
and to feel the hearts of those who dedicate themselves to it.

Both are journeys.
Both are steps toward meeting the world through different eyes.

I will become the messenger of Iwami.

石見のための、日々スピリッツ【サカオカマサシ】

ブータンで“無”と“有”、自然と資本の境界を見つめた
旅人・サカオカマサシ氏の写真展が、石見で始まりました。
これが彼にとって、写真家としての初個展。
まもなく、彼は次なる旅、ペルーへと向かいます。

そして私は明日、広島へ。
十二神祇神楽の世界を学ぶ旅です。
はじめて出会う神楽の舞台と、人の思いに触れるために。

どちらも旅。
それぞれの視点で、世界と向き合う一歩。
